Just attended Apparel show in Indy. Attendance
seemed down to me, people were buying. The brighter clothes, jewelry, butterflys, flowers, large purses are everwhere. We stepped out, for our small shop to give it a try.

Well I have 2 jobs. I am an artist who sells at craft/art shows through out the country and I work at the Denver merchandise mart and see what is actually happening with stores doing some of the buying and selling in my part of the country, and it is not optimistic. Sales for everyone there are down a minimum of 40% or more. 1/2 the vendors have closed and left. What I am seeing at craft show is identical,lower sales,higher vendor show costs and fewer customers over-all. While this may sound like “gloom and doom” it is not. It is reality and I think the sooner we can all admit it, the sooner we will figure out how to best weather this economic storm. Its not the end..for those who understand what is happening. ..And we can all understand this , if we choose to. Life will go on..just differently

I agree with your comments on delivering the customer what they want, and something that is new and fresh. I have found in my store, http://www.basketpizzazz.com that we have a lot of request for the bright colors and people want their gift to have a lot of pizzazz to it. If they are spending their hard earned money, then they want it to be on something that really stands out and makes a big splash. I have found that people are willing to spend money on gifts, but they just want it to be a good value with a great presentation.

MARKET DID HAVE A GOOD FEEL ABOUT IT THIS YEAR. THINGS WERE MUCH MORE POSITIVE THIS YEAR. THE NASHVILLE WRAP BOOTH WAS SO BUSY!!!
